Glowing zoofari: Make your own animal themed lamp

Here’s a great DIY to do with the kids over the school holidays. They can choose the animals they want, as well as their favourite Resene testpot colours, and make something truly unique for their own bedroom.

You will need:

• Plastic animals or other small ornaments
• Paintbrush
• Resene Quick Dry
• Lamp
• Adhesive glue
• Resene testpots in colours of your choice. Fleur used Resene St Kilda, Resene Calypso and Resene Refresh

Step 1: Start by priming the animals with Resene Quick Dry. 

Step 2: Apply two coats of paint to each of the animals in your chosen Resene paint colours. Fleur painted the bottom animals in Resene St Kilda, the middle animals in Resene Calypso and the top animals in Resene Refresh. 

Step 3: Once the paint is dry, use strong adhesive to glue the animals in a stack on to the base of the lamp.

Top tip: For an extra fun effect, paint selected animals using a Resene White testpot and then apply Resene FX Nightlight glow-in-the-dark for a glow effect after the light has gone out.
