Jars of plenty: DIY colourful pencil holders for kids
09 Aug 2023
These DIY pencil jars will brighten up your children’s creative corner, and they are also just very fun and cute! Get your children involved in choosing their favourite Resene paint colours and painting happy, or interesting and quirky, faces on to make them their own.
What you need:
- Three jars
- Paintbrush
- Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer
- Resene testpots in paint colours of your choice. Fleur used Resene Ashanti, Resene Wax Flower, Resene Moondance, Resene Upside, Resene Japonica, Resene Pizza, Resene Black and Resene White.
Step 1: Start by painting the jars with one coat of Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer.
Step 2: Once the sealer is dry, paint the top half of the jars in your chosen Resene paint colours. Fleur used Resene Ashanti, Resene Moondance and Resene Wax Flower. Apply two coats, allowing for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat.
Step 3: Next, paint the bottom half of the jars in your chosen Resene paint colours. Fleur used Resene Upside, Resene Japonica and Resene Pizza. Again, apply two coats.
Step 4: Finish by painting on a happy face with your chosen Resene paint colour, Fleur used Resene Black and a couple of shiny dots in the eyes with Resene White.
Wall painted in Resene Cararra.
