The perfect project to get the kids involved with, you can use them for plants or gathering easter eggs in an egg hunt. Get creative for this ‘hoppy’ celebration!
You will need
- Three terracotta pots
- Resene Aquapel and Terracotta Sealer
- Paintbrush
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Feathers
- Hot glue gun
- Plants
- Resene testpots in paint colours of your choice. Fleur used Resene Gorse, Resene Jambalaya, Resene Half Scotch Mist, Resene Pirate Gold, Resene Fire, Resene Wax Flower, Resene Drop Dead Gorgeous and Resene Black.
Step 1: Start by sealing the pots inside and out with Resene Aquapel and Terracotta Sealer.
Step 2: Once the sealer is dry, paint your pots in your chosen Resene paint colours. Fleur used Resene Gorse for the chicken, and Resene Half Scotch Mist and Resene Jambalaya for the two bunnies. Apply two coats, allowing for the first coat to dry before applying the second.
Step 3: Once dry, use your chosen Resene paint colours to paint on the details – eyes, nose, whiskers and cheeks. Fleur used Resene Black for the eyes, Resene Pirate Gold for the cheeks and Resene Fire for the beak of her chicken. For the two bunny pots, she used Resene Black for the eyes, Resene Wax Flower for the cheeks and Resene Drop Dead Gorgeous for the noses. You also add some sparkles in the eyes with a couple of dots of Resene Half Scotch Mist.
Step 4: Add your finishing touches with a hot glue gun. Fleur glued some yellow feathers on to the sides and back of her chicken pot. For the bunnies, she painted some bunny ears on some cardboard, using Resene Jambalaya and Resene Wax Flower for the brown bunny and Resene Half Scotch Mist and Resene Wax Flower for the white bunny. She then glued these to the inside of the bunny pots. Note: The cardboard won’t last long if it gets wet. Alternatively you could use crafting foam which would be more water resistant.
Fill the pots with your favourite flowering plants, herbs or Easter eggs!
