Rainwater solutions from Marley
Managing rainwater is an important aspect of home maintenance. Quality spouting and downpipes help ensure your home is weathertight and structurally sound. Spouting prevents erosion, basement flooding, staining and paint damage, and mould and mildew growth. Choosing the right solution not only protects your home but improves the street appeal.
This country home features Marley Typhoon® spouting in Ironsand® to co-ordinate with the house exterior in Resene Blackjack in a Resene CoolColour.
That’s where Stratus Design Series® comes in. With five colours and two spouting profiles to choose from, there is a solution to suit any style of home or roof. The range is where style meets durability.
Marley has been making reliable spouting, downpipe and rain harvesting products in New Zealand for over 50 years. These products are designed to withstand New Zealand’s harsh UV environment, and most importantly, will not rust or corrode, even in the heavy salt-laden coastal air.
All Marley rainwater products are made of uPVC, an environmentally smart choice because it takes a small amount of energy to make, lasts a long time and at end of life can be 100% recycled. Marley New Zealand will accept back and recycle many of its products. This includes offcuts of products created during the installation process.
Attach Marley Twist® and Marley Curve® to spouting and downpipes to filter and capture rainwater for outdoor use. Paint the balcony balustrade and weatherboards in Resene Alabaster and Resene Stack for a modern monochromatic look.
Combine Marley’s stylish spouting and downpipe products with an easy to install Marley Twist® and Marley Curve® to filter and capture rainwater for outdoor use.
Rainwater collected in a storage tank or barrel is ideal for watering the garden, topping up the pool, washing cars or muddy dogs – all things that don’t need treated water. Rainwater can be used in an emergency to flush the toilet or wash clothes.
Designed to match the Marley Stratus Design Series® range of spouting and downpipes, the Marley Twist® water diverter and Marley Curve® leaf diverter are ideal for DIYers. To build a simple gravity-fed system all you need is a Marley Twist®, a Marley Curve® and a potable water-grade barrel/small tank.
- Need to know
Most councils encourage rainwater collection but check your local rules before installing a rainwater harvesting system to check you don't need consent - Following Auckland’s water restrictions, the Council requirement to get a building consent for smaller tanks has been relaxed, though size and situational specifics may still apply.
- In Wellington, the council has subsidised a small-tank programme where ratepayers are encouraged to divert water for emergencies.
- Many urban Councils now require the installation of leaf and debris diverters on new build developments to help reduce the strain on stormwater systems.
