Stickin’ it to tradition: DIY popsicle stick Christmas tree

Tree decorations don’t have to be expensive or take hours to make! Get the kids involved in these easy to make popsicle stick decorations and make them as colourful as you like! You could make mini tree shapes like we have or get creative and try stars, diamonds or stick people. Hang them on your Christmas tree, or if you don’t have one this year, use a branch in a vase, you could even paint that too.

You will need:

• Thin popsicle sticks
• Paintbrush
• Resene testpots in colours of your choice. We used Resene Pale Leaf, Resene Summer Green, Resene Amulet and Resene Envy
• Twine
• Clear craft glue
• Scissors

Step 1: Paint your sticks front and back in your chosen Resene paint colour. We painted ours in Resene Pale Leaf, Resene Summer Green, Resene Amulet and Resene Envy.

Step 2: Cut some of your sticks in half to make the branches.

Step 3: Glue your short pieces to a long stick to make the trees.

Step 4: Glue a piece of twine to the top of the decoration and hang on your tree.
