Welcome to the world of creative upcycling! Transform ordinary wine bottles into stunning decorative pieces with a touch of Resene paint and colour. Whether you're a seasoned DIY enthusiast or just discovering your artistic flair, painting wine bottles offers a fantastic opportunity to unleash your creativity, add a personal touch to your home decor or create unique gifts for loved ones.
You will need:
- Three wine bottles, or other glass bottles
- Paintbrush
- Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer or Resene Waterborne Sureseal
- Resene testpots in the Resene colours of your choice. Fleur used Resene Nile Blue, Resene Aquamarine, Resene Showstopper, Resene Fire, Resene Lemon Ginger, Resene Red Berry and Resene FX Metallic
Step 1: Start by painting the wine bottles with one coat of Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer or Resene Waterborne Sureseal.
Step 2: Once the sealer is dry, paint the bottom two-thirds of the bottles in your chosen Resene paint colours. Fleur used Resene Nile Blue, Resene Aquamarine and Resene Showstopper. Apply two coats, allowing for the first coat to dry before applying the second.
Step 3: Next, paint the top third of the bottles in your chosen Resene paint colours. Fleur used Resene Fire, Resene Lemon Ginger and Resene Red Berry. Again, apply two coats.
Step 4: Finish by painting the gap between the two colours with two coats of your chosen Resene paint colour or metallic. Fleur used Resene FX Metallic Bullion. Once the paint is dry, fill the bottles with water and your favourite flowers.
