Vivienne and Geoff's elegant, French-style home
Finished in elegant Resene neutrals and glam-meets-French Country furnishings, Vivienne and Geoff Pitman's home is a beautiful new build.
The Waikato townhouse is influenced by French style from the ground up – it was after all built with red bricks shipped in especially from France. The home's features are a mix of modern contemporary with traditional character elements, and a well-balanced colour scheme... with a surprise pop of colour in the master bathroom.
Vivienne tells us more.
How did you decide on the overall look of the interiors?
The house has smaller living spaces than we are used to, and so we wanted to keep everything as light and bright as possible.
What part of the house are you happiest with?
We love how the master bedroom and sitting area upstairs has worked out. It is bathed in sunshine all day and the colour on the walls is so restful.
What is your advice for someone trying to achieve a similar look?
Don’t be afraid of using bold colours, especially in smaller areas. It's a cost effective way of achieving individuality.
What was the biggest decorating, renovating or building challenge for this project?
To apply our very personal tastes to all areas but with a ‘twist’, something different, to add our own personality to the build.
Do you have a favourite colour, and if so why is it your favourite?
Resene Dusted Blue. The colour is very relaxing in all lights, especially at night time, in a bedroom.
How did you find working with Resene paint and colours?
Resene colours are great to use. They provide a very smooth finish. Each year I love to view all the new Resene colours that come out, especially the Resene Karen Walker Paints collection.
